Groundhog Mining & Milling Co. rehabbed two surface ventilation drifts providing secondary intake and primary exhaust for the Galena Mine. Measures taken for reinforcement were to install chain link, and resin grouted and friction bolts, as well as retimbering sets in poor and heavy ground. Groundhog also removed and repaired failing shotcrete, as well as deteriorated mine utility plumbing.

Groundhog worked to reopen and access the Rescue Mine portal. This included installing rock bolts with chain-link and standing custom designed steel sets through a section that had collapsed in multiple places; blasting was required for some clearing purposes. Groundhog also completely revamped the surface rail infrastructure and built an ore and waste dumping station to streamline the client's process.
We removed failing timber sets and reconstructed a new portal using new materials. This mine was discovered in the 1800s and repairs needed to be made after years of inactivity. Once a new portal was completed, a length of rail drift with chain-link surface support was secured, as well as additional repairs and maintenance.
